Brett Martin has launched a new RIBA accredited CPD - Sustainable Features of Polycarbonate Daylighting and Facades. The presentation covers a range of topics such as the benefits of natural light, the advantages of polycarbonate as a material, including its low environmental impact, as well as the relevant performance regulations.
The new CPD acts as an introduction to sustainability and design considerations when creating a facade for vertical daylighting. There are crucial sustainability benefits when utilising polycarbonate as a glazing material and the CPD explains how polycarbonate sheets, such as the company’s own Marlon BioPlus, can be manufactured using a bio circular material and 100% renewable energy.
The CPD also explores why polycarbonate is incredibly versatile. It can be coloured, tinted and treated for glare, UV protection and thermal control. It is also lightweight, highly impact resistant and thermally efficient, with some systems for vertical glazing offering a U value as low as 0.99 W/m2K. Attendees will also gain knowledge of the relevant standards, thermal and fire performance requirements, and valuable guidance on the crossover between regulation, standards and design needs.
Adrian Lukic, Managing Director at Brett Martin Daylight Systems commented: “We are all aware of the benefits of natural light exposure, but it is important to keep up to speed with the solutions available and polycarbonate facade panels offer an ideal option for a huge variety of public and private sectors as well as industrial buildings. Our latest CPD provides architects with valuable insight regarding polycarbonate’s fire and thermal performance, water tightness and sound insulation as well as its clear sustainability credentials. Our aim is to ensure that armed with this knowledge, they can feel confident selecting polycarbonate systems in the future.”
The CPD also showcases impressive examples of Brett Martin’s polycarbonate glazing systems on projects around the world. To find out more or register for an online or in person CPD, please visit https://www.brettmartin.com/daylight-systems/cpds.
