Soft foam is the fastest growing insulation material in the world today and Icynene’s water blown insulation gives off no harmful emissions, offers dramatic energy savings, enables better indoor air quality and affords reductions in CO2 emissions.

Developed 25 years ago to provide a healthier insulation delivering high energy savings, Icynene is the largest supplier of soft foam insulation in North America. It has been used around the world for renovation and new construction in over 300,000 projects.

Icynene has strong green credentials, it is estimated that in its 25 years, Icynene’s insulation has saved 15 million tones of CO2 from being emitted by the burning of fossil fuels.  It has also been awarded a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 1, the best rating possible, compared to some rigid board type insulations which have ratings many times that.

The eco-friendly expanding soft foam has proved to be stable, long lasting, water resistant yet both air tight and breathable. Icynene acts as an air barrier to prevent warm air leaking out and cold air getting in, it controls condensation and will not support the growth of mould and it also doesn’t trap humidity in wood structures.

It also does not slump or deteriorate over time and, in the event of flooding, if water does get into the fabric then it will quickly drain out and, once dry, Icynene will perform as originally designed.

While steel frame houses can be difficult to insulate with conventional insulations, Icynene meets target specifications for both thermal insulation and air tightness. It also reduces draughts, external noise and promotes better indoor air quality.

Most importantly however, it also offer dramatic energy savings – typically 25% by simply insulating the loft leaving homes warmer, cheaper to run, draft free and comfortable to live in.
