MCRMA

MCRMA (Metal Cladding and Roofing Manufacturers Association)

Supporting Excellence in Metal Façade and Roofing Projects

The MCRMA – Metal Cladding and Roofing Manufacturers Association – is the UK’s only industry association for the metal building envelope supply chain. For over 30 years, the association has represented a wide variety of companies involved in the manufacture, supply, inspection, and support of products and systems used in the construction and refurbishment of industrial, commercial, warehouse and residential buildings.

By representing the interests of the complete metal building envelopes sector, the MCRMA is uniquely placed to help shape best practice and performance standards relating to the design, specification and installation of roofing and cladding products and systems.

Supporting Architects and Constructors

As the physical barrier protecting the building structure from the external elements, the envelope’s quality and performance is critically important for achieving design objectives relating to sustainability, energy efficiency, fire safety, security and longevity. And the building envelope is the most obvious visible element of the building, meaning that its design and installation will define its aesthetic appeal – whether to make a statement or to blend sympathetically with its surroundings.

To ensure architects, developers and clients can achieve their objectives most effectively, a key part of the MCRMA’s role is to define best practice. This can be accessed in the MCRMA’s expert-authored Guidance Documents, developed in conjunction with technical specialists within member companies as well as respected independent consultants. They are designed to help anyone involved in the design and construction of a metal building envelope achieve excellence through accurate information, experience-based advice and manufacturer recommendations relating to a wide variety of topics. Free to download at the association’s website, a number of these are certified by the CPD Certification Service as ‘online CPDs’.

Best practice is supported further by the MCRMA’s CPD-certified introductory training course. This provides new entrants to the industry, as well as people working in office-based roles who would not ordinarily get to work on site, with an overview of what is involved in the design and installation of a metal roof or façade section.

The Voice of the Industry

As a trusted authority, the MCRMA works closely with key industry bodies and standards committees to develop best practices. The association is an active member of organisations including the Construction Products Association, the Advisory Committee for Roof Safety, the Code for Construction Product Information (CCPI) and Rooflight Association.

Around 60 member companies form the association, ranging from the largest, world-leading manufacturers to SMEs and independent consultants. Their representatives help to shape the MCRMA’s response to consultations so that all perspectives are considered in the development of new policies, building regulations and standards.
