The topical issues of ventilation and indoor air quality will be the central themes of this year’s SELECT Professionals’ Day, as senior construction leaders gather at the V&A Dundee on 18 September 2025 to discuss the latest developments shaping the built environment.
The free event, now in its fourth year, will once again unite professionals and decision-makers from across the construction industry, offering a unique opportunity to share ideas, exchange knowledge and explore practical solutions to today’s challenges.
This year’s programme includes three topical presentations:
- Mould and Awaab’s Law: What to expect in Scotland, delivered by Aico
- Practical ventilation solutions, delivered by Ubbink
- Improving indoor air quality, delivered by BEAMA.
The talks will be followed by an open panel Q&A featuring SELECT’s Director of Technical Services, Bob Cairney and representatives from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS).
These special guests include Mike Heffron, CEO of tenement charity Under One Roof, Chartered Architect Gloria Lo and Thomas Lennon, Lead Policy Official for ventilation at the Scottish Government’s Building Standards Division.
Alan Wilson, Managing Director of SELECT, said: “With Awaab’s Law coming into effect in England this October, and the likelihood of similar legislation being introduced in Scotland, the issue of ventilation has never been more pressing.
“The new law will require social housing landlords to investigate and address damp and mould within strict, fixed timeframes, and professionals across the construction sector must be prepared to address the challenges and responsibilities this brings.
“With such a hot topic to discuss, we look forward to welcoming colleagues from housing associations, local authorities, higher education and beyond to engage in this vital discussion.”
In addition to the headline sessions, SELECT Associate Members National Ventilation, Electrium, Flexel and Dimplex will showcase the latest innovations, offering hands-on insights into practical applications and solutions.
Building on the success of previous events, which have attracted architects, surveyors, specifiers and project managers, this year’s Professionals’ Day forms a key part of SELECT’s 125th anniversary, continuing its commitment to collaboration and the future of the industry.
