British Gypsum employees have dusted off their football boots and shin pads to take part in a charity football tournament to raise funds for Children in Need and the British Heart Foundation (BHF). Eleven teams from eight different departments within British Gypsum’s East Leake site took part in the tournament, which was organised by customer service advisor Mick Fox. This was the second fundraising event British Gypsum has held for the BHF this year bringing the total amount raised for the charity to £1,672. Occupational health co-ordinator at British Gypsum, JoAnne Starbuck, said: “We wanted to focus our health education on the heart and so linking with the BHF was the perfect partnership with this being the British Heart Foundation’s 50th birthday year.” Sophie Jardine, BHF fundraising volunteer manager in Leicestershire, said: “We are so grateful to British Gypsum for once again choosing to support the BHF and raise vital funds for our life-saving work. Only earlier this year they raised an impressive £1,400 during February, National Heart Month, by holding bake sales, a raffle and organising a wear red day. Now they can add a football tournament to their wonderful list of fundraising events! As the nation’s heart charity we do rely on events like these to continue with our work, and I would like to express my sincere thanks to all involved.” To find out more about the BHF please visit www.bhf.org.uk
