Leading manufacturer of plastic piping solutions, Wavin, has supplied a new luxury housing development in Kent with its high-performance composite pipe system, Tigris K1.
The select development of 13 luxury townhouses overlooks the manicured lawns of Folkestone’s Radnor Park. The elegant new homes all boast a deluxe, spacious interior, and have been designed with the comfort of families in mind.
Wavin was tasked with supplying a piping solution that would ensure reliable and high performance over the long term. At the same time, it was essential that the system could be easily installed behind plasterboard to maximise the amount of living space in the houses’ interiors.

To meet the project requirements, Wavin recommended the use of its press-fit plumbing system, Tigris K1. Unlike alternative plumbing systems, which require hot works to connect pipes together, Tigris K1 can be fitted with ease using a press-fit tool. For installers, this method provides a completely secure fit, while also helping to eliminate any on-site safety risk from welding or soldering.
Manufactured from multi-layer composite pipe, Tigris K1 is a highly flexible system. This reduces the amount of fixings required to hold the system in place, and allows the system to be easily installed within walls and in other areas with restricted space.
This means homes can be designed with aesthetics in mind, giving homeowners as much useable space as possible without compromising on the performance of the plumbing system.

The Tigris K1 system also offers a number of additional advantages for home owners. The system’s composite material means that there is no contact between metal and water when in use, which helps resist scale and corrosion.
Meanwhile, its high-performance Polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) fittings with fixed stainless steel sleeves don’t expand or contract as much as traditional alternatives when the heating is on, minimising the stress placed on the system.
Both of these features help to reduce maintenance requirements.
Nick Welsh, Above Ground Technical Sales Manager at Wavin, concluded: “On-site efficiency is becoming increasingly important across the built environment, as developers work to ensure they provide the highest quality new homes on time and within budget.
"As such, it is important for companies to have access to innovative plumbing solutions that can help cut installation times while ensuing optimum performance.
“The Radnor Park development is a great showcase of how an effective composite press-fit heating system, like Tigris K1, can help achieve this goal, so developers can build more beautiful and more comfortable homes as efficiently as possible.”
The construction of the development is due to be completed in late 2017, and the homes are now available for purchase.
