Pupils at one of the UK’s most historic and prestigious independent schools are set to benefit from a new world-class golf facility installed by official PGA supplier Huxley Golf.
Recognised for both scholastic and sporting excellence, Winchester College began its new academic year with the installation of a state of the art Huxley Premier All Weather Putting Green, complete with surrounding fringe and chipping mats as well as a nearby triple bay practice net. This new PGA standard facility, conveniently installed next to the Winchester College P.E. Centre, will allow pupils to practise and improve their putting and chipping skills on and around the Huxley green and improve their golf swing using a full range of clubs in the adjacent Huxley practice nets.
Both facilities are proving to be enormously popular in both P.E. lessons and for enthusiastic pupils practising in their own time. P.E. teacher, Shaun Macey, said: “The Huxley putting green and practice nets have been fantastically received by the boys and are in constant use. We have a lot of keen golfers at Winchester College and their game can only benefit from using the same standard of equipment that top professionals across the world use.”
“If you can practise your putting and chipping on a consistent and pure surface, your game is bound to improve considerably. The pace and ball roll generated by the green is incredibly realistic and the only maintenance it requires is occasional brushing. We are really pleased with the new Huxley Golf facilities, especially as we are able to use them all-year round, regardless of the weather. From planning through to completion, Huxley’s customer service has been exceptional.”

Founded by William of Wykeham in 1382, Winchester College has nearly 700 pupils between the ages of 13-18. The school runs its own golf society and provides both weekly lessons for beginners and advanced coaching, with a busy senior and U16s schools fixture list.
Huxley Golf provides premier all-weather surfaces for golf around the world. Clients include training and coaching establishments, golf resorts, ranges and academies, as well as many well-known golfers and golf courses, including several Open Championship and Ryder Cup venues.
