Stannah lifts keep people and goods moving every day. Now they’re getting mobile themselves– supporting charities across the UK.
Stannah Lifts Distribution and Service (LD&S) has announced an ambitious charity cycling challenge, bringing together over 700 colleagues across its Andover headquarters and 11 service branches.
Together, Stannah is cycling one full lap of Britain – 4,000 miles, the equivalent of 1.28 million lift journeys – keeping Britain moving in more ways than one.
As the commercial arm responsible for Stannah’s UK-wide lift services, LD&S provides maintenance, repairs, modernisation and installation across passenger, platform and goods lifts. Its 11 regional branches support thousands of commercial and residential customers with 24/7 engineering coverage delivered by more than 300 service engineers who deliver specialist support for both Stannah and multi-brand lift products.
The Stannah 4K Ride will begin at the Andover headquarters before travelling to each branch in turn, where colleagues will take turns on an indoor exercise bike. One bike. Twelve locations. One full lap of Britain.
Each site has two weeks to complete its mileage target and raise funds for local charities chosen by colleagues, mapping a virtual route around Great Britain and symbolising the unity of Stannah’s national network.
Because each site selects its own charity, every mile cycled reflects a cause that matters to colleagues - making a real difference in local communities and highlighting a shared commitment to giving back. The chosen charities will be announced throughout the year.
The initiative also encourages colleagues to take time out of busy schedules to prioritise wellbeing and strengthen connections across the organisation.

Archie Hungwe, CEO of Stannah LD&S, adds: “When we pull together, look at what we can achieve. This challenge has been planned with precision and designed to be inclusive to all colleagues, with thoughtful scheduling that ensures even those working remotely or on the road can take part. It demonstrates the power of teamwork, shared purpose and collective effort.”
Launching during April, International Stress Awareness Month, and running through to World Mental Health Day in October, the Stannah 4k Ride promotes positive wellbeing while shining a spotlight on the importance of mental health.
One participating colleague added, “I can’t wait to get started and be a part of something that supports a local cause. It’s a great reminder to take a break from our usual routines, challenge ourselves – and it’s rewarding to know that I’m being part of something bigger, so cycling even a few miles contributes to the overall goal.”
Ultimately, this nationwide challenge is about far more than tallying up miles. It’s about unity, connection, wellbeing and giving back to communities across the country — all while celebrating the engineering and service teams who keep Britain moving every day.
