Ahmarra have completed external decking and purpose made Iroko
seating and cladding contract at the regeneration development at the old East
India Docks. The complex of five buildings built during the 80’s is being
remodeled and renovated to meet present day standards and to inject new life
into this forgotten corner of London.
Part of the old docks were reconfigured into a central canal
during the 80’s and it was felt that the large expanse of water needed a “Garden
Force” makeover consisting of new platforms and covered decks where office
workers and the passing public could relax in more pleasant surroundings. This
objective has been achieved and the revitalised area has received high praise.
New to the complex are shops, restaurants, cafes and a gym that add a vibrancy
of the area.
This project forms part of a large-scale development called ‘Republic’
with Ahmarra previously completing a 10-storey atrium for the building, which has since been
named Commercial Project of the Year at the Structural Timber Awards.
Main Contractor, Galliford Try plc selected Ahmarra as specialist
sub-contractor having completed a number of successful projects together in the
