Ross Verity, founder of ForceDry, spent the first 20 years of his career in the plumbing and heating industry working in both the domestic and commercial sectors.

As most of his work in the past 15 years has been concerned with heat pumps and underfloor heating he is familiar with the associated issues of installing and lengthy drying times of screed floors and the resulting delays to construction projects.

In recent years liquid gypsum screeds which can safely be force dried – speeding up installation and commissioning time considerably - have become available. Consequently Ross Verity developed unique technology which he incorporated into portable, easy to install electric boilers. Verity launched ForecedDry (www.force-dry.co.uk), which offers these boilers for hire to the construction industry, in 2013.

Five years on the Banbury based business is thriving; its specialist boilers having been used on many major residential and commercial developments including Gasholders London, Anthology Hoxton Press and Barts Square West Smithfield. ForceDry works with developers, building contractors and materials suppliers alike, including Wates, WMS Underfloor Heating, Tarmac and Gyvlon.

Verity said: “It was clear that the only viable choice for portable, easy to install units would be an electric boiler.I then sourced a compact model which was modified to my bespoke design and comes out of the box with a lot of the necessary key components built in.”

ForceDry supplies all the equipment, training and support for contractors, including a detailed best practice guide and identification of the most appropriate moisture testing methods.

ForceDry is the currently the only company supplying specialist boilers solely for the purpose of drying screeds.

“Time is money in construction, so being able to shave up to around 70 days off installation time for liquid screed floors by force drying represents a very significant cost saving for contractors and developers alike,” said Verity. “By following our procedure the drying/commissioning process can typically be achieved in 28 days for a 50mm screed.”
