Building envelope specialist, CA Group Limited, has announced that it has completed work on a 40,000m2 distribution centre at Bolton’s Logistics North Business Park, using its latest 300MR panel profile.
Situated adjacent to Junction 4 on the M61, the business park, which is one of the largest commercial developments in the north of England, was developed to address a demand for grade ‘A’ warehouses in the region and offers between 20,000 and 1 million sq. ft of warehouse space.
CA Group worked closely with main contractor Winvic, delivering the project in record time for developer First Industrial.
Rob Burnett, Project Manager at Winvic, explained: “The project finished four weeks ahead of programme, which was achieved through effective site coordination combined with a proactive supply chain. The cladding solution we selected was seamlessly integrated and proved to be an important factor in the successful completion of this project.
“CA’s 300MR profile was developed for use in horizontal applications of the company’s Twin-Therm wall cladding. For this project it has been used both horizontally and vertically, in contrasting colours of white and dark grey. This is the first twin-skin shed on the development, and it really stands out from the crowd.”
The Twin-Therm roof and wall system delivers a fully-walkable, Non-Fragile roof assembly, inclusive of in-plane GRP rooflights, which maximise the amount of natural daylight into the building, reducing its reliance on fossil fuels.
The building envelope also delivers improved thermal performance as a result of the significantly high levels of air tightness and effective thermal detailing which is provided as standard with the Twin-Therm system.
Water ingress, one of the biggest hidden costs in a building of this type, is eliminated through the avoidance of any fasteners penetrating the system from the outside to the inside of the building
Mark Clements, Contracts Manager for CA Group, added: “This was a dream project for us. The team at Winvic were highly organised and extremely professional. The concrete foundations were laid the prior to our cladding team arriving on site which meant that any unnecessary delays were avoided.
"Once the steel work was in place, managing the installation of the cladding was extremely quick - we were in and out before many of the other buildings on site even got off the ground.”
