The best of both worlds with Pilkington Activ SunShade

The latest high performance addition to the ever popular self-cleaning range from NSG Group, manufacturer of Pilkington glass in the UK, has recently been unveiled.

A dual coated combination of the online Pilkington Activ with offline Pilkington SunShade, not previously available in the UK. Pilkington Activ SunShade works to further reduce the amount of direct sunlight that penetrates into a building. The new product combines the attractive aesthetics and self-cleaning properties of Pilkington Activ Blue with superior solar control performance.

The Pilkington Activ SunShade range will now include Pilkington Activ SunShade Blue; with Pilkington SunShade on the reverse side of Pilkington Activ Blue and also Pilkington Activ SunShade Neutral (previously known as  Pilkington Activ Neutral) with Pilkington SunShade on the reverse side of Pilkington Activ Clear.

Kristian Chalmers, Product Manager, said, “Within the Pilkington range we strive to create glazing solutions that exceed our customer’s expectations. We recognise that homeowners want to utilise all areas of their homes all year round. Previously, conservatories or other large glazed areas could feel cold during winter or too hot in the summer months.

"For this reason we decided to introduce Pilkington Activ SunShade Blue to the range to give our customers more choice and the flexibility to use these spaces every day.  We also decided to incorporate the Pilkington SunShade name which is used throughout our European businesses, since this emphasises the enhanced solar control performance over Pilkington Activ Blue where the solar control comes only from the body tint.”

Specially designed for conservatories and large glazed areas, Pilkington Activ SunShade is perfect for use in both the roof and verticals. Typically the Blue is used in the roof and the Neutral in the verticals of a conservatory, giving you a year round view.

The self-cleaning technologies on the glass use daylight and rainwater to breakdown, and then wash away, organic dirt from exterior surfaces, making it ideal for difficult to clean areas. Furthermore, the superior solar control coating also helps keep internal temperatures cool, whilst still maintaining excellent light transmittance.

When combined with new Pilkington Optitherm S1 Plus, Pilkington Activ SunShade offers the ultimate in performance for conservatory roof glazing and is equivalent to, and in many cases exceeds, all other competitors on the market.
