Global building product manufacturer Sika has launched two new eagerly awaited joint sealing solutions to add to its extensive range of commercial building façade sealants.
In meeting the high performance standards expected of architects and specifiers, the new SikaHyflex joint sealants are highly durable, cost effective and will enable a ‘one stop shop’ for all commercial building applications.
With air and weathertight construction joints critical when ensuring durable and energy saving joints for any building envelope, the new SikaHyflex joint sealants have been specially developed by the company’s team of expert technicians to accommodate movement between a variety of substrates as well as ensuring a permanent bond.
Sika strives for sustainable building construction and therefore focuses on long-lasting solutions. The SikaHyflex 250 Façade (a revised version of the existing and successful SikaFlex PRO-2 HP) is more suited to masonry application including precast concrete panels while the SikaHyflex 260 Façade can be used where high UV resistance is paramount such as the sealing of metal facade components or the perimeter sealing around windows. Both products ensure tight building envelopes permanently at minimal initial cost and thus contribute to the reduction of heating and cooling energy of buildings.
“When you consider that a ‘leaky’ building has environmental as well as structural consequences and remedial solutions are far more cost prohibitive, the SikaHyflex sealants are not only proven but are an economical solution to the contract value of any commercial building,” commented David Fraser, Sealing & Bonding Manager at Sika.
The SikaHyflex products are designed to meet the increased requirements high performance sealants have to fulfill today. They adhere to all kinds of substrates and have an extremely high movement capability of up to +100/-50% in order to absorb large movements. SikaHyflex sealants exhibit an exceptional durability due to their outstanding UV and weathering resistance.
SikaHyflex can be used for sealing joints in a wide variety of applications including expansion and construction joints, external walling and cladding, around windows and doors, on roofs and terraces, in parapets, retaining walls and between precast elements.
To complement the SikaHyflex sealants, Sika also has the technical expertise and track record having worked on many of the iconic buildings dominating the London skyline including The Shard, 122 Leadenhall Street, 30 St Mary Axe (The Gherkin) where the structural bonding of glass components was achieved with the Sikasil range of structural silicone adhesives.
With growing requirements for reduced energy consumption and lower carbon dioxide footprint, architects and specifiers can achieve all their joint sealant, structural glazing, roofing, and structural bonding with Sika. The SikaHyflex sealants further emphasizes the company’s position as a market leader in the manufacture and distribution of innovative building products.
