Cistermiser has showcased its range of infrared controlled, touch free, water efficient, anti-vandal, anti-ligature taps at EcoBuild. Washroom designers and specifiers should expect water saving, hygiene and reduced maintenance in their tap specifications. The Cistermiser range, consisting of Vectaspout, the latest addition, Novatap and Novaspout, neatly encapsulates this expectation.
The Novatap is a contemporary deck mounted chrome basin spout with an integrated infrared sensor, control unit and valve – making it very simple to install. The Novaspout is a panel-mounted polished stainless steel basin spout, which is supplied with an infrared sensor control unit and valve. The Vectaspout is the latest addition to the range. It is a panel mounted basin spout that utilises an infrared control unit and valve. With a polished stainless steel finish its sleek minimal design is ideal for contemporary washroom designs.
Touch free basin taps are easy to use; this means they are ideal for commercial washroom facilities in both the public and private sectors where accessibility is an important specification consideration. Robust design of the Novatap, Novaspout and Vectaspout taps from Cistermiser ensures that all are suitable for hard use areas, where the less-abled or elderly may find it difficult to operate conventional taps.
The infrared range from Cistermiser works when a user presents their hands to the infrared sensor. No contact is required whatsoever. Once the user has washed their hands and moved away from the basin the flow of water shuts off automatically.
Water efficiency is improved in a number of ways. Firstly, all of Cistermiser’s infrared controlled taps have an automatic shut-off. This means that there is no risk of a tap left running, whether deliberately or accidentally. The run on time, sensor range and the flow rate can be adjusted according to the requirements of the washroom. Secondly, on average basin taps deliver 8litres of water per minute. Cistermiser’s range improves on this, offering a flow rate of 5 litres per minute, which can be reduced to 3.6 litres per minute, according to the application. This reflects the Water Regulations, which demand that, for basins with no plug, such as those in healthcare facilities where ‘open waste basins’ are required, the flow rate of a tap does not exceed 3.6 litres per minute.
Hygiene is not just an issue for healthcare washroom installations; it should be a fundamental criterion in the specification process for all commercial washroom facilities. Infrared controlled products support a hygiene agenda because they are touch-free in their nature, so bacteria cannot spread so easily through hand to surface contact. However, infrared taps should also be selected on their Legionella control performance too. All Cistermiser’s infrared taps have a ‘hygiene rinse’. This means that, where a tap is not used during a period of downtime such as weekends or bank holidays, it will automatically rinse, thus removing any static water which could provide a breeding ground for waterborne bacteria.
“Particularly useful where hygiene issues are coupled with an acute need for water efficiency, Cistermiser’s infrared taps prevent water wastage at the same time as supporting a touch-free, safe and healthy washroom environment,” explains Bob Blincowe, National Sales Manager for Cistermiser, “Not only this but our range also embodies the best in contemporary design, suiting the highest specification washroom fit-outs”.
