The British Board of Agrément (BBA) has certified Jablite Flat Roof Insulation (FRI) for use on zero fall flat roofs, balconies, terraces and green roofs.
“This is the first time that an inverted roof insulation board for use on zero fall roofs has been approved by the BBA,” says David Teasdale, Jablite’s Sales & Marketing Director.
“We are very pleased to finally have the BBA certificate in our hands. It was particularly pleasing that Claire Thomas-Curtis, CEO of the BBA presented it to us at our breakfast discussion about innovation and sustainability at the Gherkin.”
The BBA certificate approves the use of Jablite Flat Roof Insulation on zero pitch flat roofs and on all slopes between 1:80 and 1:6. When Jablite FRI is used in conjunction with the Jablite Filter Membrane – to minimise the heat loss caused by rainwater cooling - it will contribute to the overall thermal performance of the roof, giving a corrected U-value of 0.038 W/m²K.
“Our latest addition to the Jablite Flat Roof Insulation family, Jablite Flat Roof Tapered is also included on this BBA certificate, (numbered 01/3812 product sheet 5). Our tapered product offers all the same thermal and strength performance of Jablite FRI and can be used where tapered falls must be provided,” adds David.
Jablite FRI is uniquely flexible; it is available in 5mm increments between 100mm and 250mm and the 1200mm x 1200mm boards are double the size of other roof insulation boards, enabling faster, more efficient installation.
A recent Davis Langdon study found that Jablite FRI can cost up to 22.9% less than XPS. The combination of its high thermal performance, the availability in 5mm increments and a largest board thickness of 250mm make it possible to specify exactly what is required with no waste.
As well as having this new BBA approval, Jablite FRI also meets the criteria of ETAG 031 and is fully compliant for CE marking, as required by the Construction Products Regulation 2011.
“The BBA approval of Jablite Flat Roof Inverted insulation for zero fall roofs, balconies, roof terraces and green roofs – after rigorous BBA testing - proves that Jablite’s expanded polystyrene (EPS) has inherent qualities that makes it a perfect material for this application,” concludes David.
