Polypipe Ventilation, manufacturer of market-leading domestic and light commercial ventilation systems, has added two exciting new products to its Domus range of ducting systems: high efficiency 90° bends and a new inlet/outlet plenum with integral flow control device.
Part of the Green Line range of energy efficient ventilation systems and accessories, the new Domus 90° bends provide up to 60% reduction in resistance to air flow, significantly lowering a duct system’s total pressure loss and therefore overall energy usage. In the case of ducting used as part of a Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) system, this can also lead to cost savings as the certain properties may be able to use a smaller unit than previously possible.
These new Domus 90° bends are available for use with Polypipe Ventilation’s best selling Supertube 204x60mm and Megaduct 220x90mm rectangular rigid duct systems, ideal for applications which require higher air flow rates, such as those associated with whole-house ventilation.
The unique design of the Domus Green Line 90° bends results in reduced air speed through the bend, thus lowering system noise as well as smoothing the air flow, thereby helping to achieve higher air flow rates when required. All of these factors improve home owner comfort as well as making central ventilation systems easier to specify.
Also for use with Polypipe’s Domus 204x60mm Supertube rigid duct system is a new plenum with integral flow control device which can be used to regulate system air flows.
This new adaption enables the inlet/outlet plenum to be connected directly to a stylish architectural grille, taking away the need to fit a room-mounted adjustable air valve and instead giving specifiers, installers and homeowners alike the opportunity to match interior décor schemes. This clever design also allows for commissioning to be carried out in advance of construction of the finished ceiling, providing peace of mind that the required air flow rates will be achieved while the duct system is still accessible and, as a consequence, less risk of costly remedial work.
Another advantage of the new Domus plenum is that the flow control device cannot be easily tampered with by the occupant, which could negatively impact system performance.
Domus ducting has a deserved reputation for quality and excellent technical support, in line with Polypipe’s position in the ventilation market. Polypipe Ventilation is well placed to offer immediate, practical solutions to Building Regulations Parts F & L. The company continues to provide differentiated solutions in the private and social housing sectors, transforming the way developers, specifiers, installers, homeowners and distributors meet emerging environmental standards.
