Sustainability at its best

At this year’s Ecobuild, visitors to Internorm’s stand will find one of the widest ranges of Passivhaus and low energy windows and doors available.

In fact, the company is the only window manufacturer in Europe with nine Passivhaus certified components.

With exceptional technical qualities combined with superior energy, acoustic and security performance, housebuilders, self builders, local authority specifiers and architects will all find the ideal solution with Internorm. Visitors should also look out for the exciting range of new products Internorm will be launching at the show.

As Europe’s leading brand for windows, Internorm’s extensive offering includes UPVC, and UPVC/aluminium windows, in addition to timber/aluminium windows. The UPVC and UPVC/aluminium products have excellent thermal performance with Uw values up to 0.74W/m2K. The range is available in a wide choice of different designs and colour options so, when selecting a system, specifiers can take advantage of a completely unique window specification that is bespoke according to the performance and aesthetic requirements of the project in hand.

Customers who choose timber/aluminium designs benefit from further environmental credentials, with exceptional Uw values of up to 0.63W/m2K, in addition to the aesthetic qualities timber provides. This combined with exceptional energy performance makes timber/aluminium ideal for both traditional as well as contemporary projects. The range also offers a choice of either spruce or larch timber interior finishes. The performance of Internorm’s timber/aluminium windows is enhanced by an innovative composite construction that incorporates a highly insulating thermal foam.

Additional features, unique to Internorm, include Fix-O-Round technology, a choice of glazing including SOLAR+ glass, security measures and accessories such as integrated blinds. Fix-O-Round technology is a continuous all-round fixing for the window pane, providing a continuous connection for the glazing with the window frame. The benefits are improved stability, thermal insulation and sound proofing, burglary protection and greater durability of the window unit for its entire lifespan.

SOLAR+ glass is a specialist thermal coating, available on all triple glazed windows as standard. SOLAR+ triple glazing maximises the potential energy gains provided through solar irradiation. It prevents subsequent heat loss through the window with very low Ug values, helping to maintain a comfortable, carbon and energy efficient interior environment that is also cost effective for the user.

Internorm’s blind solutions include I-tec Shading, a specialist self-powered solar blind. The practical sunscreen solution is the perfect option when electricity supply is unavailable. Internorm composite window systems, fitted with a motorised shutter and integrated with a photovoltaic solar panel, can be operated without the need for an external power source. The thin film solar cell panel, which acts as the blind cover and is integrated into the top rail, is installed inside the window system.

Internorm boasts the whole package – in addition to offering the highest quality products the company also boasts BBA and Secured by Design certification amongst others. The company has also recently launched its first RIBA-approved CPD, which provides architects with an insight into building low Energy and Passivhaus standard properties in addition to how windows and doors play a significant role.

Internorm’s Thomas Hagen commented, “Windows and doors are a key component of any building – they provide a function as well as having an aesthetical purpose. Getting the specification correct is paramount for the long-term benefits of the building. With our extensive experience, we are perfectly positioned in providing architects, specifiers and end clients the right advise in selecting the correct product.”
