Esher, September 2014. On Thursday 28th August, Hansgrohe launched its Green and Clean Cycling Scheme at the UK head office in Esher, Surrey. Already recognized globally as a sustainable bathroom manufacturer, the drivers behind the UK scheme are to reduce carbon footprint locally and increase health benefits for staff by encouraging them to leave the car at home and cycle to work.
Five bicycles, sprayed Hansgrohe green and blazened with the company logo, have been purchased and will be serviced locally. Together with branded safety helmets, the cycles can be booked out overnight by staff for occasional or regular journeys to the office and for shorter trips during a lunch break.
Of the 28 staff currently based at the Esher head office, just 4 regularly cycle to work. It is hoped that the scheme will encourage more to try out a bicycle and in doing so reap the benefits of a more active lifestyle.
Martin Mongan, UK managing director, comments, “We all know we should try and exercise more, but it can be difficult within the timescales of a busy working week. Activities that can be built into the day, like cycling to work, are an ideal solution. We are also proud to be doing our bit to help the environment by encouraging a greener alternative to driving every day.”
