When a framing supplier decided to upgrade their showroom and offices in Nottingham, the choice of flooring had to be in keeping with their high standards of quality and workmanship as well as being a subtle, seamless and elegant alternative to their existing traditional vinyl flooring. An established player in the art and framing industry, family-run Mainline Mouldings has one of the widest ranges of framing supplies in the UK, supplying to art galleries, picture framers, photographers, artists and hobbyists. As part of their showroom and office upgrade, specialist contractor Zenith Pola Flooring worked with Sika who provided a series of high performance resin flooring solutions which transformed the existing vinyl floor.
The successful application of a pure white Sika ComfortFloor® by Zenith Pola Flooring met the demands of the project creating a sleek, modern floor which would also be scratch resistant to accommodate the castor wheels of the office chairs.As well as being extremely durable and comfortable underfoot, ComfortFloor® offered the client excellent acoustic properties, and is easily cleaned and maintained.
Due to the existing porous substrate it was necessary to apply three primer coats of Sikafloor 264 as opposed to the standard one or two coats. Following this, a 2mm layer of Sikafloor 327 was applied, a wearing course which provided the comfort element of the system.To finish the floor and create an ultra-smooth seamless finish, two coats of Sikafloor 305W, a coloured sealer, was applied.
