Following the success of its structural insulated panel venture, Thru-Wall, Lakesmere has consolidated its expertise in the off-site construction market by offering a range of bespoke solutions for roofing and walling.
The numerous benefits of off-site manufacturing techniques are increasingly being utilised across a wide variety of sectors and Lakesmere, with its long tradition for innovation, is at the forefront of this off-site revolution.
By working closely with both its client base and supply chain, Lakesmere’s dedicated off-site team has developed a keen understanding of the off-site market and an awareness that the full advantages can only be enjoyed if specified early enough in the design stage.
Key benefits include the quality and accuracy of manufacturing due to the factory controlled conditions, reduced storage on site leading to fewer damaged goods and a low environmental impact thanks to less waste.
Lakesmere’s passion for innovation and collaboration coupled with its desire to provide its clients with added value has naturally evolved into a number of joint ventures with steelwork contractors that have led to the development of hybrid off-site roofing solutions.
By promoting the use of off-site construction at the earliest opportunity, Lakesmere has been able to work closely with steelwork contractors in order to incorporate external finishes into the steel frame to create bespoke modules ready for installation on site. Such close supply-chain collaboration at pre-tender stage can provide cost-effective and time-efficient solutions to challenging projects where site access is limited or presents safety risks to either the public or the construction teams. Such joint venture schemes are proving extremely beneficial to a wide range of clients, particularly those working within the transport and infrastructure sectors. Lakesmere is also delighted to offer clients two modular roofing solutions – Corus Hi-Point and Ruukki Pro-Roof. Where appropriate, the use of modular roofing can bring invaluable cost and time savings to a project in addition to increasing safety of those working on site.
The jewel in Lakesmere’s off-site crown is the innovative Thru-Wall collaboration with key supply chain partner, Hemsec Installations, which provides a unique, modular, fast-track and sustainable construction solution, in addition to being the first UK business to offer full, latent defect 20-year SIPS/external finish insurance cover.
Load bearing and pre-insulated, the Thru-Wall solution is up to five times faster to install than traditional construction methods, combining the engineering and environmental benefits of off-site manufacture with enhanced performance including superior thermal and structural properties. Panels are lightweight, environmentally friendly and come complete with the client’s choice of external facade, with or without windows, which can be factory or site installed, ideal for commercial projects where quality and speed of construction are paramount.
