Keylite Roof Windows (Keylite) has launched a brand new window guard to support housebuilders in light of updates to Building Regulations Part O ref: 3.8 Protection of Falling, which took effect on the 15th June 2023.
Latest guidance in paragraph 3.8 states that openings which are intended to be open for long periods to reduce overheating risk might pose a higher risk of falls from height.
The new window guard is responsively designed for vertical windows to support housebuilders urgently needing to meet the latest update to building regs. This latest addition to Keylite’s product range comes as a quick response to its housebuilder customers’ call for support.
The window manufacturer has worked to source, test and achieve NHBC approval on the window guard with competence and speed, ensuring no jeopardy on product quality.
This Keylite solution is made of durable materials and is designed to ensure easy installation without any impact to build procedures, demonstrating Keylite’s customer-lead, entrepreneurial spirit.
Available in a range of chrome and tubing lengths, Keylite’s window guard has been structurally tested to carry the required uniformly distributed load, and can be fixed to internal window reveals for quick and easy installation.
Colin Wells, Head of Technical at Keylite, comments: “We are incredibly proud to be the first to market with this solution. We listened to our customers, worked exceptionally efficiently as a team, and took ownership in producing a product that will make the lives of our customers, as well as their customers, easier.
“Our people, product knowledge and the trust that our customers have in us has allowed us to be agile and responsive to market conditions. We’ve been able to leverage the expertise across the Keystone Group and our wide range of industry connections, which has enabled us to work with speed and provide a leading solution to support these needs.
“Going the extra mile is part of our culture at Keylite - it’s in our DNA. Ease of installation and performance is always at the forefront of our vision when designing a product. Our patented Flick Fit Brackets and Integrated Thermal Collar featured across our roof window range are prime examples of this as well.”
