Black Millwork has supplied a range of Andersen windows to a stunning coastal property at Wallah Dune, which overlooks the popular Constantine Bay beach in Cornwall.
Homes close to any body of water present an interesting quandary for homeowners. Coastal properties are often highly in-demand, with amazing views.
However, they do have difficulties, which arise from being so close to the coast such as more extreme winds as well as the salted sea air.
This was the case with the Wallah Dune project, as the property overlooks Constantine Bay beach in Cornwall, one of the most popular tourist locations in the area.
As such it was essential the homeowner found products that combined top-notch performance with strong aesthetic values. Nowhere is this consideration more important than on windows as they’re particularly susceptible to damage from salted air.
The corrosive air has the potential to damage paint, which results in additional on-going expense for homeowners. What’s more, in areas with strong winds it’s essential that the windows can withstand the pressure.
For Chris Hiatt, the homeowner, this meant looking to Black Millwork for a solution, who in turn supplied a collection of Andersen windows. Andersen’s A Series Casements and Woodwright Sliding Sash are great examples of products that are up to the challenge. They’ve been designed with durability in mind and are able to withstand corrosive coastal conditions.
What’s more, Andersen windows and doors are available in a range of exterior colours, interior finish options and several impact resistant insulated glass options. This means that homeowner can still achieve any aesthetic ambitions they may have. At Wallah Dune, the homeowner chose to go with a natural oak finish on the interior of the window and a white fibrex finish on the exterior.
Choosing alternative interior and exterior finishes on a window is an increasingly fashionable choice within the market and proving popular with homeowners. With its extensive product portfolio, Black Millwork is in the perfect position to satisfy this trend.
Speaking on the project, Chris Hiatt, the homeowner commented: “When we began working on this project it was essential we found products that were suitable for the harsh conditions.
"After speaking to Black Millwork it became abundantly obvious that Andersen range represented that. The windows have a resilient coating that deal exceptionally well with extreme rain and wind.
"It was also a big help to be able to meet with some of the company’s representatives on-site, having them talk through any technical difficulties or design queries we may have.”
As a company, Andersen employs a team of engineers to scrutinise each product. Every aspect of our windows has been carefully orchestrated to achieve superior performance, low-maintenance exteriors and long-lasting durability.
The company has also created the product with the environment in mind, making them their most energy efficient coastal products ever offered.
