Yale launches UK’s first smart lock accredited by Z-Wave

The Yale Keyfree Connected is the first smart lock in the UK to be compatible with Z-Wave systems, allowing homeowners to control their homes at all times, wherever they are.

As the very first of its kind, the Keyfree Connected Smart Lock, complete with a Z-Wave wireless module becomes part of a variety of home automation systems, enabling users to open and close their doors, grant entry to their home, and control other appliances simply by using their smartphone.

Z-Wave is a dedicated home automation communication standard that allows devices to communicate wirelessly using 868mHz frequency. Currently there is nearly, 1000 different Z-Wave compatible devices, allowing homeowners to pick and choose their desired level of home automation.

To ensure maximum-security protection, Z-Wave uses AES 128 encryption for all of its communications between devices, providing the same level of security used in online banking.

Dave Herbert, Head of Marketing for Yale, said: “We’re very proud that the Yale Keyfree Connected is the first smart lock in the UK to accredited by Z-Wave.

“The Keyfree Connected is part of our new range of Smart Living products, designed to take the hassle out of home security.

"The range is available in a variety of options to suit all homeowners, from standalone products, to a complete home security system built around an intelligent smart security hub, which integrates with a wide range of modular accessories. For all your smart home security needs, Yale has a solution.”
