In another industry first, Marley has become the only roofing manufacturer in the UK to achieve independent carbon footprint certification for a range of products by Carbon Trust Certification, adding to the company’s wealth of sustainability credentials.

In this particular case, we recognised that investment in carbon measurement would enable customers to make more informed product choices. The carbon footprint certification of our roofing and profiled sheeting products also builds on a long-standing commitment to measuring our environmental performance, which has seen Marley achieve many industry-firsts, including:
- ISO 14001 accreditation
- BES 6001 Responsible Sourcing for fibre cement, clay and concrete roofing products
- ‘Green guide’ environmental profiles from the BRE
- The industry-leading ‘pollution-eating’ EcoLogic tile.”
In addition to the certified carbon footprints of Marley's roofing and profiled sheeting products, customers can also find further information on the environmental performance of all of Marley's façade products, through Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). These make it easy for specifiers to get information on the carbon footprint of each product as part of the life cycle assessment that has been undertaken.

We are delighted to add carbon footprint certification to our offering to our customers, as we know that demonstrating the environmental credentials of the products that they specify is of vital importance, either to meet ever-more stringent environmental targets, or to enhance their own credentials to clients.”

The independent carbon footprint certification applies to all of Marley’s roofing and profiled sheeting products, and certifies the total amount of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gases emitted in the production and use of the product at every stage throughout its lifecycle. This includes the manufacture, transportation, preparation and usage of each product, right through to its final disposal.
