Xylem Lowara UK’s high-efficiency domestic circulator pump, the Lowara Ecocirc has won the “Best product of the year 2013” award at the recent Plus X Awards ceremony.
The Plus X Awards, now in its tenth year, is the world’s largest innovation award ceremony for technology, sport and lifestyle products, and honours manufacturers of unique, innovative high-quality products. The winners of Plus X Awards are chosen by an independent, international panel of 25 judges from various industries.
The Lowara Ecocirc high-efficiency circulator pump, which already complies with the 2015 ErP directive, was selected for its unique magnetite-resistant “anti-block” technology. This technology completely separates the main flow of the transferred liquid from the permanent magnetic parts, ensuring that the pump is resistant to blockages from magnetite or sludge.
Gary Wilde, Business Development & Marketing Manager for Xylem Lowara UK, said: “To win an award of this magnitude is absolutely fantastic. At Xylem, we constantly strive to ensure our products meet our customers’ requirements while maintaining the highest pumping standards. To win the best product of the year award is a true endorsement of our product design and application expertise, and we’re delighted to have been recognised.”
The Ecocirc pump is specifically designed for heating systems in domestic environments. The circulator can reduce electricity costs by up to 90% compared to traditional fixed three-speed pumps, delivering a payback period of just 2-3 years.
The high efficiency circulator boasts a market leading electronically commutated spherical motor which has only one moving component – the impeller/rotor unit. This means that the pump can perform to its maximum capabilities after any period of inactivity.
The Lowara Ecocirc previously also received a Plus X Award for innovation, high quality and functionality and the “Best HVAC Marketing campaign 2013 in Germany.”
The Xylem Lowara Ecocirc boasts 4-6 metre head options which meet standard specifications making it directly interchangeable with other manufacturer’s units. The pump can operate up to a maximum of 10 bar, can transfer liquids ranging from -10oC to +110oC in temperature and comes with two metres of pre-wired cable for fast installation.
In addition, the electronics and components of the pump are protected by the integrated over-temperature protection system which can automatically reduce the speed of the pump or bring it to a complete stop. The system will then try to re-start the pump once every minute to ensure it never overheats. The pump also has a built in air purge mode.
