Three Valleys Housing are rerouting construction traffic away from residential streets in Sandiacre to reduce noise and disruption for local people.
The housing association – which is building new affordable homes in Town Street – has changed the site access so that the majority of construction traffic will arrive and leave the site via the B6002 instead of the streets behind.
Derbyshire County Council Highways has now approved plans to change the access point from Recreation Road to Town Street. Work has started to open up the new access onto Town Street, and will take two weeks to complete.
The development at Town Street is the first new build by Three Valleys Housing since the housing association was established 11 years ago. The new homes will breathe new life into these neighbourhoods, and Three Valleys Housing has been involving residents in the programme from the start, with public consultations and information events at nearby Sandiacre Football Club.
Three Valleys Housing joined East Midlands Housing Group, one of the largest groups of housing associations in the region, last year, following the appointment of a new managing director at Three Valleys Housing, Sue Coulson.
She said: “I am delighted we have been given the go-ahead from DCC Highways to move the vehicle access, and that this will reduce inconvenience for local people while we build these much-needed new affordable homes.”
