Nine Elms on London's Southbank has been listed as number one in Planning Magazine’s 100 biggest regeneration projects in the UK. This underlines the exceptional nature of the area - the greatest transformational story in the world’s greatest city.
The project will benefit from £12 billion of investment and aims to create 25,000 new jobs and 16,000 new homes. Nine Elms on the South Bank makes up more than 7% of the UK figure for new development with two million square metres of floorspace planned.
Nine Elms on the South Bank covers 195 hectares of central London real estate between Lambeth Bridge and Chelsea Bridge, including Vauxhall town centre, the new US Embassy and Battersea Power Station. The majority of this vast regeneration area is now being redeveloped in a coordinated delivery programme which covers more than 25 interconnected investment sites.
Helen Fisher, Programme Director of Nine Elms on the South Bank, commented: “This is a great achievement for Nine Elms on the South Bank as it demonstrates the extent of the work planned and shows the industry that we are open for business. Development is well underway but it is a long term project and we hope to remain in the listings for many years to come."
