Kebony, the award-winning sustainable substitute for tropical hardwood and preservative treated timber is delighted to unveil its first UK residential project at 25 Hurst Avenue, a stunning new property in the heart of London’s prestigious Highgate. This innovative wood material is fast becoming the material of choice for leading architects and developers.
The property, consisting of two 4,000 sq ft family homes, was designed by creative new developers Bliss who chose Kebony for its outstanding performance qualities and unrivalled green credentials. Designed for inspirational and open living, the mirrored layout draws on that of a Moroccan riad bringing the outside ‘in’ through sliding glass walls with spectacular open views from its picturesque elevated position and a separate garden lodge that adds to the substantial living space.
Kebony has been used throughout for the exterior cladding, extensive outdoor decking and garden furnishings such as the post box, garden gates and refuse bin stores. The intrinsic properties of this new wood material make it an attractive choice to developers and architects – a beautiful material that is non-toxic, maintenance-free, durable and aesthetically-pleasing.
Sustainably focused construction methods were used in the build and Kebony was used in conjunction with a number of other cutting-edge materials, including the KLH cross-laminated timber panels that form the main sustainable wood structure of the build whose frame intrinsically stores carbon.
