State of the art retirement village takes shape

Work on a £15 million retirement village in Great Easton, on the fringes of Great Dunmow, is starting to take shape.

The Moat House, a brand new purpose-built care home, catering for residential, nursing and dementia care, opened within the grounds last year, and now work has started on the final piece of the jigsaw, 26 luxury retirement apartments, on an elevated position within a parkland setting. The development, expected to be complete next spring, will provide the area with one of the UK’s most attractive retirement villages.

Owner of the site, Retirement Villages Group Ltd, is working closely with leading building constructor, Allenbuild, to create what it says will be a ‘jewel in the crown’ retirement village for this lovely area of the Essex countryside.

As well as 26 one and two bedroom apartments, including a top penthouse with roof terrace, there will be a clubhouse with dining and social facilities, exclusively for the use of the new apartment residents.

Jami Puckering, Development Director for Retirement Villages said: “This village will be a real asset to the local community, providing a wonderful private retirement housing proposition for people in their later years who still want to retain a strong sense of independence.

“This represents another exciting project for us and we are delighted to be working with Allenbuild, a company with an equally impressive reputation for delivering building excellence.”

Keith Young, Business Development Director for Allenbuild, said: “Allenbuild Ltd are delighted to be delivering our second project for the Retirement Villages Group and we look forward to completing another high-quality development.  Retirement Villages are a key Client partner and we are very pleased to be involved in this project.”
