St Ives, July 2013. – The Hotel Bel-Air has been a glamorous retreat and popular oasis of tranquillity for Hollywood stars since 1946. Its eventful history and uniquely luxurious ambiance have long since made the hotel a legend itself. In the bathrooms of the luxury hotel the Centro Duo baths from premium manufacturer Kaldewei now ensure Hollywood-style bathing indulgence not only for stars.
The sprawling complex in Los Angeles’ exclusive residential Bel Air neighbourhood is one of the most noted hotels in the world, and for good reason. Even Hollywood legends such as Elizabeth Taylor, Cary Grant and Marilyn Monroe have valued the Hotel Bel-Air for its luxurious and private atmosphere. Lush gardens surrounding the establishment built in Spanish colonial style have long since made for a special air of peace and seclusion in the heart of the busy city of Los Angeles.
In 2009 the hotel closed for extensive renovations, only to reopen two years later in even grander style and glamour. Headed by the renowned design offices of Alexandra Champalimaud and the Rockwell Group, the hotel icon was modernised without losing any of its unique charm. Double-wing doors, terraces and inner courtyards now open up the guestrooms, but also public areas such as the restaurant and bar and the first La Prairie Spa in the USA, to the hotel’s sprawling grounds in an effort to extend the interior outside. The stylish interior design features a remake of the characteristic aesthetic appeal of the Bel-Air and is at once intensely modern and inviting. Inspired by Hollywood’s golden era in the 1930s to 1950s, the 103 redesigned rooms including 45 suites offer a luxurious ambiance of comfort and wellbeing appealing with discreet elegance and superior material quality.
The epitome of bathing: Kaldewei Centro Duo
The luxury hotel sets great store by exclusive design and superior quality even in its bathrooms. 89 guestrooms of the Bel-Air now feature Kaldewei Centro Duo baths to provide bathing pleasure of the finest. Designed by celebrated design studio Sottsass Associati in Milan, the bath made of high-quality Kaldewei steel enamel 3.5 mm uniquely combines timelessly elegant design with exclusive comfort to integrate optimally with the hotel’s aesthetic style. With its basic oval shape and an extra depth of 47 cm, the Kaldewei Centro Duo invites users to relax and escape from everyday life. As with all “Duo” baths by Kaldewei, the two identical backrests and the centrally placed waste of the Centro Duo ensure it is also the right bath for two to enjoy comfortably.
The Kaldewei Centro Duo scores with a further feel-good factor. Kaldewei steel enamel 3.5 mm, the material used by Kaldewei for all its baths, shower trays and enamelled shower surfaces, guarantees excellent hygiene properties. Not even the microscopically tiniest scratches appear on the glass-hard surface leaving no place for dirt and bacteria to settle. The hard-wearing material looks as new even after years of use meeting the highest standards of visual appearance and quality – along with superior design and functional comfort a further reason why luxury hotels worldwide opt for Kaldewei.
