Hampshire-based Huxley Golf, the PGA’s official supplier of all-weather golf surfaces, has announced the appointment of RED (Relvados e Equipamentos Desportivos) as the company’s Authorised Distributor and Installer in Portugal.
RED will supply Huxley Golf’s world-class premier all-weather greens, tees and practice surfaces to golf courses, resorts, hotels and private homes across Portugal.
With one of the most golf-friendly climates in the world, the Iberian country offers some of the most popular global destinations for golf centred on the two main golfing regions in the Algarve, on the southern coast and the Lisbon coast near the capital. Oporto Golf Club, founded in 1890, is one of the oldest golf courses in Europe, but it was not until 1966 when Sir Henry Cotton started the Portuguese golf boom with the remarkable Penina.
Supplying and installing Huxley Golf all-weather surfaces will allow RED to offer improved facilities and lower maintenance costs to golf courses and commercial organisations in this valuable potential marketplace. At the same time, the company also aims to grow the demand from private customers in Portugal by offering top quality home putting greens which provide enjoyment for all ages while requiring minimal maintenance.
With over 20 years of experience in the construction and maintenance of golf courses, sports pitches and gardens, RED’s expertise will be invaluable in driving this opportunity forward.
