The Association of Interior Specialists (AIS) has added to its range of specialist literature with the introduction of its new best practice guide, which focuses on the installation of partitioning.
Designed to offer guidance, rather than being used as a definitive technical manual, the Best Practice Guide: Installation of Partitioning has been developed to help set the standard for high quality installations.
Partitioning systems are an integral part of many fit outs; offering fire, acoustic and structural performance, as well as making a major contribution to the overall appearance and quality of the finished space.
However, a satisfactory partitioning installation - which fulfills the main performance, aesthetic and demountable/relocatable requirements – can only be achieved when the partitioning is installed under proper site conditions, using the correct techniques, the right materials and to the highest standards of workmanship.
Split into sections, the guide therefore covers everything from the initial tendering and planning stages through to the eventual installation. It offers a series of points to consider when carrying out the installation of all types of partitioning systems, up to a height of 3.6 metres.
AIS technical manager Joe Cilia said: “This best practice guide brings together years of experience, manufacturers data and the wide range of systems in a single document.
"We hope it will prove an invaluable aid to specifiers, contractors clients and installers, who need to understand the whole process from tender to handover”.
