Visitors to Ecobuild get chance to discover Lafarge Cement’s pioneering new tubs

Visitors to Lafarge’s stand at Ecobuild will get to review its latest innovation in product packaging – plastic tubs – before they are rolled out nationwide later in the year. Lafarge Cement is the first major cement manufacturer in the UK to launch the tubs.

Lafarge Cement has developed the new plastic, re-sealable, recyclable tubs for its packed product range in response to feedback from customers such as plumbers, maintenance contractors, DIYers and jobbing builders who sometimes use smaller quantities of product for each application but want to avoid wastage through unused product.

The new tubs provide an easy, flexible and cost-effective solution for small jobs such as brick, path or floor surface repairs and they have been designed primarily with the DIY, maintenance contractors and jobbing builders market in mind. However, they are also ideal for plumbers and electricians who regularly use small amounts of cement, mortar or concrete for patching up areas they are working on. Users have the option of either mixing the product in the tub or using a little and reseal the unused material for their next job.

Importantly, the new tubs also boast strong environmental credentials. The products are all responsibly sourced to BES 6001 to a ‘Very Good’ classification. The tubs are also re-sealable allowing unused product at the end of a job is not wasted, and the plastic tubs themselves – once washed out – can also be recycled or put to other uses such as storage.

The products in the tubs are multi-purpose to cover the wide and varied range of repair work undertaken and are available in sizes from 2.5kg to 10kg.They include the popular Ready-to-Use Mortar,Mix, Multi-Purpose Concrete, Repair Concrete and Extra Rapid Cement. Videos of how to use these products are also available on the Lafarge You Tube channel (www.youtube.com/lafargediycement)

Kieron Hall, Marketing Manager for Packed Products, Lafarge Cement, comments: “We wanted to trial the new tubs before we launch our new offering nationwide and we’re really pleased with the feedback from customers so far. Plumbers and electricians have told us that the resalable tubs are great for putting in the back of the van and taking to the next job!

“We’re looking forward to rolling the tubs out nationwide later in the year but we’re excited to give visitors to Ecobuild a taster of what is in store and our experts will be on hand to talk to people about them at the show.”
