When Ellis Williams Architects were tasked to work on the development for the Manchester Communication Primary Academy (MCPA), they specified VIVIX by Formica Group panels for the external façade of the modular build.
The newly built two storey academy, opened in September 2015, houses 472 children and includes a nursery.
During the construction, the building exterior required 1600m2 of cladding for which Formica Group’s 6mm thick VIVIX panels were applied in Baikal and a contrasting Paprika.
As opposed to utilising the traditional construction build, the primary academy was made from precast concrete which was manufactured offsite to reduce waste, CO2 emissions and minimise noise. VIVIX panels helped to complement the sustainable construction approach by providing a product with the credentials to match.
Lightweight, VIVIX panels can be applied to existing surfaces and offers ease of installation. In addition, they are resistant to impact and abrasion, are weather resistant and can help to enhance the lifespan of a building; making it ideal for education builds where functional, durable and cost effective products are key.
Made in Britain, VIVIX panels for MCPA were manufactured by Formica Group at its UK manufacturing plant, reducing on material transportation and the overall project carbon footprint.
