Washroom Washroom delivers a colourful change

Leading washroom designer, manufacturer and installer, Washroom Washroom has created a bright and colourful new changing area as part of an office refurbishment project in the heart of London.

Devonshire Square is a vibrant estate tucked between the City and Shoreditch, offering an exciting, architecturally varied campus with 630,000 sq ft of office space, shops, homes, restaurants and bars.

The five acre campus is home to 12 buildings including a mix of refurbished and reconfigured Georgian warehouses, townhouses, and modern developments with Devonshire Square itself set around a collection of original 18th-century East India warehouses and a covered piazza-style courtyard.

Washroom Washroom recently worked alongside Collins Construction and John Robertson architects as part of a refurbishment project at Devonshire Square which saw the team create a new cycle centre to cater for those who choose to walk or cycle into work on the Devonshire Square Estate.

The eye-catching new changing area and bike storage facility features Washroom’s Forza solid grade laminate lockers with key operated locks to provide a secure storage solution for office workers. Manufactured from hardwearing 12mm solid grade laminate doors and aluminium bodies with solid laminate shelves and ventilation holes, the Forza range guarantees exceptional strength and durability and is available in a wide choice of colours.

Washroom utilised a range of high pressure laminate colours from Sonae for the locker doors to create the distinctive eye-catching design, ‘Pearl White’ used for the majority of the lockers with a range of three accent colours; ‘Blue Paradiso’; ‘Jade’ and ‘Lemon Green’ picked out against the white in evenly spaced vertical stripes.

The changing area also features Washroom’s freestanding island Legato bench units manufactured with solid grade laminate slats and back rest in the same ‘Pearl White’ shade from Sonae. Legato benches comprises an aluminium support construction with profiled seating options and a complementary hook rail. The back rest on the island unit is generally manufactured from the same material as the seat. In addition to the island units in the main changing area, Washroom also installed the same ‘Pearl White’ wall-mounted Legato benching units in the combined changing and shower cubicles.

The Washroom team designed and installed its Arpeggio Corian trough-style vanity units within the changing area as part of the project. Manufactured in the crisp ‘Designer White’ colour with inset square sink areas and integrated waste bins and wall-mounted taps, the vanity units fit seamlessly with the sleek changing area design.

Trevor Bowers, director at Washroom Washroom said: “Providing shower and changing areas is becoming increasingly important for offices and is something we’ve seen an increase in over recent years. This project is an excellent example of how colour can be used to create a unique space. Just a small pop of colour against the white lockers, benching, Corian vanities and tiling is very effective.”
