George Fischer Piping Systems recently celebrated the opening of their new 1,000 square metres Fabrication Unit within the company’s large and impressive storage and distribution centre at Coventry.
GF’s Fabrication Day proved to be great success from the business and social point of view and was clearly enjoyed by the large number of stockists and specifiers who attended.
Michael Trevaskis, Managing Director of GF’s UK operation, greeted the guests before giving an overview of the company and showing a brief film of the Group’s worldwide activities.
Darren Myers, Sales and Marketing Director then gave an outline of the day’s events and handed over to Fabrication Manager, Ulrika Kohl who described her department’s functions of detailed computer design and precise estimation systems and then finally Specification Sales Manager, Ian Smith illustrated the Fabrication Department’s past high profile successes including work at the Albert Hall, GCHQ, the Hilton Tower in Manchester and Heathrow’s Terminal 5.
Ulrika Kohl and members of GF staff conducted the visitors round the Fabrication Unit itself. The guests’ interest in seeing Fabrication’s functions at first hand was shown by the quality of questions and comments during stimulating interaction with Ulrika Kohl and her colleagues. The morning’s serious business was rounded off by an excellent buffet.
The whole party then repaired to the nearby Adventure Sports Park in Warwick where hosts and guests alike took part in a Clay Pigeon Shoot, that included such disciplines as English Skeet, Down The Line and Sport Trap.
Teams of four were selected, each led by a GF employee and all competitors were given eight shots at each of five targets. The standard was generally high and individual winner Andy Lawton scored a most creditable 37 hits out of 40.
The winning team, led by GF’s National Sales Manager, Ben Pinder, represented Briggs & Forrester Engineering Services Ltd., a leading UK company in the field of building services.
As well as Andy Lawton, team members Phil Cassidy and Michael Hill also acquitted themselves well. The aroma and then the taste of a delicious Hog Roast supper rounded off what all those present agreed was a most convivial day to celebrate the official opening of GF’s Fabrication Unit.
