VELUX Commercial UK&I launches new modular skylight dim-out solution

VELUX Commercial UK&I has launched a new VELUX Modula Skylight (VMS) dim-out solution, designed to give customers greater control over light spill around roller blinds in commercial rooflight applications.

The new solution covers the light gap between the roller blind and the module frame, helping to reduce visible daylight area and deliver a more effective dim-out performance for projects where light control is especially important. It adds flexibility to the VMS platform and supports a wider range of commercial applications.

Built around the core audience identified in the original content pillar and strategic direction, VMS Dim is aimed at technical and commercial decision-makers who need dependable, future-ready solutions. The messaging reflects the priorities shaping 2026 and 2027: performance, compliance, product differentiation and commercial resilience, with a clear focus on helping the audience make informed decisions in a fast-moving market.

The dim-out solution uses extruded aluminium profiles finished in matt black and can be pre-mounted in the factory or retrofitted on site, with the same costing for both options. It is compatible with the standard VMS roller blind (RMM) and is available across a defined size range, with specific glazing compatibility requirements.

According to VELUX Commercial, the solution has been developed to respond to real project needs in the commercial market, where control over daylight, glare and occupant comfort is increasingly important. It supports the broader VMS proposition by helping specifiers and contractors deliver a more tailored daylight environment without compromising the modular approach.

Paul Reid, VELUX Commercial UK&I, said: “This launch is about giving our core audience a more complete and flexible solution. Architects, contractors and building owners are all looking for ways to improve light control without compromising on performance or installation practicality, and VMS Dim helps us answer that need.”

The launch also reflects VELUX Commercial UK&I’s ongoing commitment to product development, technical support and testing, ensuring new solutions are designed to work as part of a complete system.

Reid adds: “Looking ahead, the market is becoming more performance-led and more selective about the solutions it specifies. VMS Dim is designed to support that shift, giving our customers a way to strengthen their offering while meeting the real demands of commercial rooflight projects.”

Installation guidance is available through the VMS Product Site and technical handbook, with material also available to support specification and customer conversations.
