The chair of the Building Safety Regulator, Lord Andrew Roe, will officially open the FIRE Conference 2026 at Basinghall Ave, London when the annual event returns on 5 November.
Bringing together professionals from across fire safety, building safety, and the wider built environment, the hybrid conference will feature a programme of plenary sessions and panel discussions examining some of the most significant regulatory and professional issues facing the industry.
Lord Roe’s opening contribution will provide delegates with an update from the Building Safety Regulator and address the opportunities and challenges currently facing the fire sector.
The 2026 event has been redesigned with longer sessions intended to provide greater opportunity to examine complex topics in detail, and extended audience Q&A sessions will also give more opportunities for engagement directly with speakers. The conference programme will provide up to six hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for delegates.
Building safety reform will feature prominently on the agenda, with a morning panel examining whether the Building Safety Act is addressing the sector’s needs, what further developments remain to come, and the challenges that could emerge. An afternoon session will then turn its attention to progress on the professional reform agenda.
Government priorities will also come under scrutiny in a session examining sprinklers in schools, data storage centres, construction products, and the changing use of buildings, as well as the role of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Fire Safety and Rescue.
The conference will additionally provide an international perspective on fire safety, which will draw on learnings from recent incidents, including the Wang Fuk Court fire in Hong Kong and the Crans-Montana fire in Switzerland, and examine how knowledge can be shared internationally to improve fire safety outcomes. Delegates will also hear about conducting firefighting operations in a warzone, with a focus on Ukraine.
Networking will form another part of the programme, with dedicated breaks throughout the day designed to encourage discussion between delegates, speakers, and industry peers and support the exchange of ideas and best practice.
