Crittall Windows is reinforcing the importance of protecting its iconic steel window and door brand following a UK Intellectual Property Office ruling that declared a similar trademark invalid.
The UKIPO decision reflects Crittall's long-standing commitment to safeguarding a name that has become synonymous with authentic steel windows and doors. Built over more than 175 years, the Crittall brand is recognised for British manufacturing, quality and enduring design.
Following a challenge by the Essex-based firm, the tribunal concluded that a Crittall Style Doors trademark was likely to create confusion with the existing Crittall trademark and had been registered in bad faith. The trademark has been declared invalid and Crittall was awarded costs.
