Top 10 UK housebuilder, Keepmoat, has started delivery across two new sites in North Halifax set to create almost 250 new homes.
The developments, both forming part of Calderdale Council’s North Halifax Transformation Programme, will provide a combined investment of more than £50 million from the housebuilder.
Now dubbed Fields Edge and Oaklands, the investment spans three brownfield sites across Ovenden, Mixenden and Illingworth and will create much needed new housing stock, including 53 affordable homes which will be managed through a local housing provider.
The schemes were made viable through £7.8 million of Homes England funding, part of its Brownfield, Infrastructure and Land (BIL) Grant, which will support the significant remediation and enabling works.
Keepmoat has a strong record of providing added social value, with £1.4 million also committed to projects across the country, in contributions to schools, healthcare, public transport and environmental improvements.

As part of the regeneration, Keepmoat will also deliver biodiversity enhancements, new public open space and tree planting alongside supporting infrastructure and traffic-calming improvements across the area.
Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration, Cllr Keith Ingle, said: “Ensuring that local people can access safe, warm and affordable housing is one of our priorities, and we’ll work hard to support the delivery of high-quality homes in places where people want to live.
“I’m pleased that this scheme will provide much-needed homes to support local families, especially as it’s being delivered on a brownfield site, making the most of currently unused land.”
