Zerodeck Porcelain - fire-rated decking as a complete system

As external spaces take on a more prominent role in contemporary buildings, the performance demands placed on decking systems have increased.

Fire safety, durability, build-up complexity and long-term maintenance now sit alongside aesthetic considerations, particularly on balconies and terraces. The Zerodeck Porcelain decking system has been developed in response to these combined requirements.

A fire-rated porcelain decking system

Zerodeck Porcelain is a Class A fire-rated decking system using 20 mm European porcelain boards supported by a fully engineered subframe including pedestals and joists. Designed for balconies, terraces and roof decks, the system combines non-combustible surface materials with a coordinated support structure, providing a clear solution for external flooring in highly regulated contexts.

Material performance and durability

Porcelain offers a number of practical advantages for external applications. The boards are dimensionally stable, resistant to moisture, frost and UV exposure, and retain their appearance over time with minimal maintenance. A range of finishes, including timber-effect designs, allows the system to support varied architectural styles while maintaining the performance benefits of a non-combustible surface.

Designed as a complete system

Crucially, Zerodeck Porcelain is designed as a system, with all parts working togetherseamlessly, rather than just a standalone finish. Working with a complete system from one supplier helps reduce uncertainty on projects subject to tightened regulations and where clear performance evidence is required. This systems-led approach supports coordination across external works and contributes to more predictable outcomes on site.

Part of a wider fire-rated portfolio

Within The Outdoor Deck Company’s wider portfolio of fire-rated solutions, Zerodeck Porcelain sits alongside systems such as Zerodeck Composite , offering flexibility depending on project requirements, design intent and build-up constraints. Both reflect a broader move toward external flooring solutions that prioritise tested performance, clarity of specification and long-term reliability.
