Galliford Try’s Invesments business has received planning permission to take a major city centre regeneration scheme in Leicester to the next phase.
Councillors approved plans submitted by Cityregen Leicester and Galliford Try Investments to transform the historic Corah Works into 1,000 new homes alongside extensive new public spaces and improved links between the city centre and Abbey Park.
The façade of the 1865 Old Textile Building and two landmark chimneys will be retained and reintegrated into the development, ensuring the most recognisable parts of the factory remain visible. The wider regeneration scheme will also potentially include new commercial units and a hotel.

Phil Harris, Managing Director for Galliford Try Investments, said: “We are delighted with this decision, which comes after extensive work with the community and council over a number of years.
“This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to transform a landmark site, create much-needed new homes and public spaces, and support Leicester’s future growth.
“By respecting Corah’s heritage while delivering modern, sustainable development, the scheme will bring pride back to this historic part of the city.”
