The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has appointed Purcell (Architects, Masterplanners, Heritage Consultants) as Executive Architects on its House of Architecture Programme, to work alongside retained award-winning Design Architects Benedetti Architects.
RIBA Chair of Board Jack Pringle said: “RIBA is pleased to confirm the appointment of Purcell Architects as our Executive Architects for the delivery of the RIBA Stage 4 design for the House of Architecture project at 66 Portland Place.
“At the competition stage RIBA was pleased to open the project to all architectural practices, including SMEs, to maximise the creative talent pool available to the institute.
“We were delighted to appoint Benedetti Architects to that role, fresh from their triumph at BAFTA. Now, for stage four we are pleased to retain Benedetti as our design guardian and to bring in the powerful team of Purcell with their indepth knowledge of the renovation of historic buildings. Not least the Palace of Westminster, the National Gallery in collaboration with Selldorf Architects, and Auckland Castle where they collaborated with Niall McLaughlin Architects.
“Thus, the institute has formed a team to give it both creative vision and delivery with specialist knowledge.”
