Fire doors are a key element of a building’s passive fire protection system, and their importance cannot be understated. Well-maintained and properly installed fire doors help to keep people safe. By containing fire and toxic smoke within the area where the fire started, fire doors help to protect buildings and allow people sufficient time to escape safely. But to be effective, fire doors must remain closed when not in use or be linked to an alarm system to ensure they automatically close in the event of a fire.
