Gradus has collaborated with Vinci Construction and AFL Architects to transform a state-of-the-art medical facility, the new Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) at the Broad Street building in Halifax.
The CDC enhances accessibility to diagnostic tests for patients by offering a centralised location for various community services. The project involved the installation of a range of Gradus products across multiple rooms, improving the environment for patients and staff while ensuring functionality and aesthetics were prioritised.
Paul Warrillow, Gradus Contracts Project Manager commented: “Collaborating on this project was a rewarding experience. Our products not only met the functional requirements but also enhanced the overall environment, making it more welcoming for everyone.”
Gradus’ SureProtect Artworx, a durable wall cladding which can be printed with any image, was specified and installed in various rooms at the CDC including ultrasound rooms, an x-ray room, a scanner room and waiting areas. It was specifically chosen to create a calming atmosphere, using high-resolution biophilic photography. The nature-inspired theme not only adds visual appeal to the walls, but also protects the wall substrate.
SureProtect Endure wall cladding was installed in different colours and heights throughout the new building. Its durability and versatility make it the ideal choice for use in circulation areas, as its textured design conceals the effects of impacts from wheeled traffic.
In keeping with the biophilic elements, SureProtect Design in 062 Light Oak was installed in the cannulation room. This product’s wood-effect finish brings a touch of nature indoors, creating a more inviting and comfortable space for patients.
In the staff kitchen, SureProtect Pure was selected for use as a smooth, hygienic splashback. Gradus Standard PVC-U Corner Guards in colour 002 Gravel have also been installed throughout the building to protect corners from impact and wear. In a busy medical facility such as this where equipment and foot traffic can cause damage corner guards are crucial in maintaining the integrity of the walls.
Finally, throughout the building, sit-on skirting as well as Cover Formers with Capping Stripshave been used to provide a seamless finish between the walls and floor covering and add a polished and professional look to the facility.
Brontie Bennett, Gradus Marketing Product Manager, said: “Seeing our products in action at this facility is truly gratifying. The combination of design and durability in our solutions ensures that the space remains both beautiful and resilient over time.”
By choosing Gradus, the facility has successfully created a space that supports both patient well-being and staff efficiency, demonstrating the impact of well-designed protective solutions in healthcare settings.
