Polypipe Civils & Green Urbanisation’s Vikki Woodhouse shines the spotlight on the business’s RXL range.
It’s no secret that global warming and climate change are continuing to bring a range of challenges to modern day Britain. Unpredictable weather events are becoming more common, and there’s undoubtedly an increased need to adapt and prepare our water systems for extremities.

For over 40 years, Polypipe Civils & Green Urbanisation has been providing integrated water management solutions to the construction industry. Continuously championing innovation in order to meet the requirements of the 21st century climate, the business offers a range of products and solutions, manufactured to enhance sustainable and resilient development.
“Ridgistorm-XL (also known as RXL) is a perfect example of one of those solutions. Helping to manage large volumes of surface water run off that could otherwise create urban flooding and/or affect the natural water course, put simply, RXL is a bespoke large diameter pipe and fabricated chamber/fitting system that’s available in 750 to 3,000mm diameters,” says Vikki Woodhouse, RXL Product Manager at Polypipe Civils & Green Urbanisation.

“For us, RXL is all about conveying, controlling, attenuating/storing, and treating water – it can be used for combined and foul systems, too! It can be used in a number of sectors, including housing, commercial, industrial and retail, and meets the requirements of both the water sector and highways, enabling us to be the only UK manufacturer that can furnish the water company with adoptable pipework and chambers from 150mm to 3000mm.
“My role at Polypipe Civils & Green Urbanisation involves ensuring we understand the requirements of every scheme and meet those needs, and I’m particularly proud of the breadth of solutions that we offer as a business – especially in terms of RXL, which is a standalone product but also beautifully compliments the wider range, whether that’s our Polystorm crates, flow control chambers, or catch pits.

“We’re a solution one-stop-shop, and collaboration and value are the two words I’d use to sum that up. Almost everything we do is project-specific, working with our project partners to provide services and support all the way from design to site. Plus, our RXL range is manufactured right in the centre of the country, in Loughborough, meaning we’re perfectly located for the practical side of things, too.”
