Leading construction academic Professor Jacqui Glass has been appointed as Dean of The Bartlett, UCL’s Faculty of the Built Environment.
Professor Glass has held the interim position of Dean of The Bartlett since April 2024 when the previous Dean, Professor Christoph Lindner, moved to a new role as President and Vice-Chancellor of the Royal College of Art.
She was previously Vice-Dean Research for The Bartlett, where she led The Bartlett’s the faculty’s unique, multidisciplinary research community.
On being appointed Professor Glass said: "I am thoroughly honoured and delighted to be appointed as the Dean of The Bartlett.
“Having had the privilege of leading the faculty as interim Dean since April, I have been deeply inspired by our students and staff, who come together from all around the world to take on our shared mission to build a better future for all. I’m sincerely grateful for this remarkable opportunity to lead such a diverse scholarly community and work with them in the years to come to continue to achieve great things."
Professor Jennifer Hudson, UCL’s Vice Provost (Faculties) said: “Very many congratulations to Professor Glass on a very well-deserved appointment. She is uniquely suited to support and enable The Bartlett’s wide-ranging and world-leading teaching and research. I look forward to working with Jacqui and seeing the faculty continue to flourish under her leadership.”

She has built a reputation as a leading figure in the built environment field, with an academic research and teaching career spanning a quarter of a century, and I know that she will continue to be a terrific leader for The Bartlett's community of diverse and talented staff and students.”
Professor Glass, alongside her Dean responsibilities, is Professor of Construction Management at The Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction, a position she has held since 2018. Prior to that, from 2003-2018, she held a number of senior academic roles at the School of Architecture, Building & Civil Engineering, Loughborough University.
Professor Glass is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building and the Chartered Association of Building Engineers, and Associate Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects.
