The Housing Forum is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
The Housing Forum was first incorporated on 4 June 1999, following the recommendation in Sir John Egan's 'Rethinking Construction' report which recommended the creation of “a forum of major developing housing associations and the major housebuilding and construction firms” to act as a catalyst for change in the housing sector and drive improvements in quality and efficiency."
Since then, The Housing Forum has led the way in influencing the direction of the housing industry, convening leading firms, sharing knowledge, and producing policy recommendations for the housing sector and for the government of the day.
The Housing Forum’s membership has grown to 122 companies across the delivery pipeline in both the private and public sector. Our activities are guided by our 20-strong board comprised of leaders across the housing sector.
Marking the anniversary, Shelagh Grant, Chief Executive of The Housing Forum, said: “We are delighted to be celebrating 25 years of The Housing Forum today. Since its inception, The Housing Forum has led the way in sharing best practice across the housing sector and driving positive change.
“Through the involvement of our many member organisations cross sector, we have spread knowledge and insight helping the industry to pursue change and improved outcomes through partnership.
“Bringing all parties in the housing construction sector has built a reputation for good quality sounding boards across the industry leading to increased influence with government and media.
“Recent innovations have included the establishment of a unique Local Councils Network and a Futures Network for the leaders of tomorrow.
“Earlier achievements include the series of Demonstration Projects, and contributions to policy developments at the national level such as the Calcutt Review and the introduction of the first standard form partner contract.
“Looking ahead, we are excited to continue to make the case for a Quality Home for All, and will pursue the case for a new generation of solutions to the long term delivery of homes and support the sector in its challenges and opportunities in partnerships, building safety, and decarbonisation.
“We would like to thank everyone who has made The Housing Forum a success in these past 25 years, the many membership organisations we have been pleased to work with , all past and present board members, staff, and colleagues throughout the industry.”
