Not-for-profit London housing association Peabody unveil plans for their first large-scale Passivhaus scheme in south-east London.
Planning has just been approved for Plot 6 of the Deptford Landings masterplan which will provide 189 new mixed tenure homes comprising of 121 affordable rent and 68 shared ownership units.
PHT Patron Max Fordham have been pivitol to the Passivhaus design, alongside project architects Allford Hall Monagham Morris (AHMM). The £75m scheme will be one of the largest single-phase Passivhaus projects in the UK and will see residents benefitting from reduced energy costs and a significant improvement in comfort and air quality.
To ensure the design's success, Peabody collaborated with PHT Patron Hastoe Housing Association and Camden Council who shared their experience of developing similar schemes. High levels of energy efficiency are a key feature of the new development, with all the new homes independently certified to Passivhaus by PHT Patron Etude.
Plot 6 is comprised of three new eight-storey mansion blocks;
- Block 6A will provide 68 one and two-bedroom shared ownership apartments
- Block 6B will provide 61 affordable rent units ranging from one to three-bedrooms, seven of the units will be wheelchair accessible
- Block 6C will provide 59 shared ownership units and one for private sale. Block C will feature a mix of one and two-bedroom units with 15 being wheelchair adaptable.
Along with all associated services and highways works, the new development will deliver high-quality landscaping and public realm, a resident’s lounge, cycle storage facilities, servicing, plant areas, public realm, new landscaping and other associated works along with a managed access route through the completed scheme.
