Timber Development UK are delighted to host a third series of lunchtime webinars featuring exemplary timber buildings from the 2023 Wood Awards winners and shortlist.
These monthly webinars will be presented by the multi-disciplinary design and delivery teams behind a diverse range of inspiring projects, from high-rise urban offices to engaging community spaces to innovative research projects.
Spanning offsite manufacturing, mass timber systems, robotic technology, traditional bolt-free joinery and the reuse of marine timber, designTimber will take you to some of the many frontiers of contemporary timber architecture.
The series will begin on Wednesday 21 February with a presentation of the New Temple Complex, winner of both the Gold and Education & Public Sector awards in last year’s Wood Awards.
During the webinar we will hear from lead architect Steve Wilkinson from James Gorst Architects and structural engineer Duncan Walters from Eckersley O’Callaghan, providing insight into the design and process behind the creation of this multi-faith community complex. Attendees will learn how prefabricated engineered timber frames were used to create a series of exquisitely serene buildings including a temple, library, chapels and community hall.
The designTimber talks are key to TDUK’s mission educate, inform and inspire today’s architects, engineers, and all other built environment specialists to build better, and lower-carbon, using intelligent timber design. We want this knowledge to be open for all, which is why the webinars are free to attend; we also encourage those considering entering the Wood Awards 2024 to join us and learn about some of last year’s top projects.
This webinar series is programmed by TDUK, main organizer of the Wood Awards along with the American Hardwood Export Council and Carpenters’ Company.
Further talks will be announced in the coming weeks.
